Job is a searching and honest book that begins and ends in dust and ashes –
Job has something to say to all of us who feel like we’re winded and barely holding on. We all feel like this at different points, and perhaps more than ever during this uneasy time on the planet. You could say we’ve found ourselves in an ongoing Season of Lent.
These reflections are written with Lent in mind, but more than this, they are an attempt to offer something we might describe as a spirituality for those sitting in the ashes. So really, these reflections are for anyone, at any time, but they might especially make sense in those times when we are yearning for new life and for the kind of love that can meet us and hold us when we are barely hanging on.
