This book studies the local geography, languages and territories of these people and their neighbours the ‘Encounter Bay tribe’ at first contact; their changing relationships with Kangaroo Islanders; and their contributions to European exploration and the beginning of settlement in 1836 as guides, interpreters and cultural mediators.
